September Observing Report

Summer eventually came

After a very disappointing August, mid September once again made up for it as it did last year. I had a few observing nights while the moon wasn't around. Still concentrating on the usual summer sky targets. The highlight for me was another look at the Veil Nebula through an OIII filter. The Western Veil looked fantastic with a clear large ribbon showing in the eyepiece. Likewise the Eastern Veil was surprisingly bright for such a large nebula.

I also had a good go at imaging this month around new moon time. Once again, the difficult Eastern Veil Nebula was my first target only this year I have a guiding setup to flex my arms with. I have smashed my previous record by getting just under 6 hours exposure time on a single object. By using 5 minute and 10 minute exposures, I managed to capture a decent amount of detail of this nebula.
