Where to find The Hercules Cluster (M13)

The great Hercules Cluster is another showpiece object in the Northern Hemisphere. It is a globular cluster just visible to the naked eye in a dark location. Containing over 100,000 individual stars it lies 20,000 light years distant. Located within the 'square of Hercules', Another way of picturing it is to use the two large triangles as shown below. They lie between the two brightest stars in the sky during the summer months namely Vega and Arcturus. M13 can be found on the edge of the smaller of the two triangles.
