"The little dipper"

Another well recognised shape as it closely resembles the plough (Big Dipper). Showing the obvious reason for the given name of this asterism. "The little dipper" is in fact a complete constellation, namely Ursa Minor (The little bear). The only reason it is also classified as an asterism is because of it's popularly known false name. As you can see in the illustration, this asterism faces it's bigger brother and also contains the pole star on it's "tail". As a result, this peice of sky never sets and simply rotates around the pole star.
