July Observing Report

I'm sure this month needs no introduction as the terrible weather and flooding has been the main feature on the news of late! Only one night did I manage to get the scope out. I took my first photo of the milky way and my first go at Jupiter this year. Worth the effort as Jupiter's Great Red Spot was facing Earth at the time being revealed in the photo.

Other objects viewed:

  • M27 - The Dumbell Nebula
  • 'The Coathanger' cluster
  • Albireo Double Star

  • Daytime Astronomy ?

Yes it can be done, a glorious day on 11th July and I had a go at photographing/viewing the sun using filters. I caught a nice group of sunspots.
