January Observing Report

What a month. First half was abysmal with the worst sustained amount of bad weather for an astronomer I have known. Next came a long awaited naked eye Comet called McNaught which due to weather and timing with work, I had missed totally. Making up for all of this was the last weekend in January which produced 3 clear nights allowing me to take the most amazing picture of M42 and also see Saturn right next to the near full moon (both visible together in the eyepiece!). An unforgettable sight.
