April Observing Report

A much better month with many clear nights, most especially over the Easter period. Many of these clear day (and nights) were quite murky and seeing was not excellent. However this did not hinder any star cluster, lunar or planetary viewing. Later in the month a couple of those rare perfect nights with no cloud and also crisp sky conditions. This gave me a chance to both image and view a few galaxies which Spring puts in to view.

Outline of viewings this month...

  • Open star clusters M35, M36, M37, M38
  • M65 & M66 (A pair of galaxies in Leo)
  • M81 & M82 (A pair of bright galaxies in Ursa Major)
  • Venus & Saturn
  • Apennine mountains, Plato crater and Lunar Alps on the Moon at half phase (first quarter)

  • Photography this month...

  • M35 Open star cluster
  • M81 & M82 Galaxies
  • Best effort yet of Saturn
